Ni/sepiolite and Ni-Sm/sepiolite catalysts were prepared by impregnation and their properties were characterized by the means of TPR,TPD, XRD and XPS, respectively. The results show that the addition of Sm to the Ni/sepiolite can decrease not only the partical size of nickel but also nickel atomic binding energy. Besides, it also increases the dispersion of nickel on sepiolite support. The reduction and desorption peak temperature in TPR or TPD curves changed after adding Sm.
