That day is Saturday, the fifth day of May 1945. In order to fight for freedom, the inhabitants of Golden Prague dug up stones laid on the road and built barricades. Behind these barriers built of stones, trams, trolleys, cupboards, boxes and trash cans, they are armed with rifles. The hateful fascist flag was ripped off, and the Nazi mark on the signboard was painted or affixed. A man appeared on a street in Prague, holding high the banner of free Czechoslovakia and marching solemnly forward. Some people wearing a tri-band on the brim or buttonhole disarm the German fascist army. The broadcaster at Czechoslovak Radio called for the people to pick up their weapons.
