During the two years from 2007 to 2008, I came to a scrap yacht not far from the pier in Liushui Town, Pingtan Island on many occasions. Pingtan Island is a county owned by Fuzhou, located in the southeastern part of Fujian Province. It borders the Taiwan Strait to the east and is only 68 nautical miles from Hsinchu, Taiwan. It is also the fifth largest island in China.
