辜鸿铭英译儒经文本是典籍翻译“走出去”的成功典范,是一种经典化儒经译本。但由于学界长期缠绵于翻译标准的“忠”、“信”之争,辜鸿铭开拓性的儒经翻译在得到极大肯定的同时也遭到部分学者的全盘否定。翻译传播本质的认识为我们研究翻译提供新视角,利用传播学理论能对辜译现象做出较好解释。因此,若能立足于翻译学自身的“译”理,吸收传播学之“传”艺,建构翻译传播理论体系,用于指导翻译实践,将会帮助翻译突破“译”的瓶颈,提高当前典籍翻译的科学性和创造性,引导译作的经典化,促进翻译学跃上新台阶。
The translation of Confucian classics by Gu Hongming is a successful example of classics translation and “going out”. It is a classic Confucian classics translation. However, due to the long-term lingering controversy over “loyalty” and “letter” in translation standards, Gu Hongming’s groundbreaking translation of Confucianism has received great recognition and at the same time has been totally negated by some scholars. The understanding of the nature of translation and communication provides a new perspective for us to study translation and makes use of the theory of communication to make a better explanation of the phenomenon of the translation of Gu. Therefore, if we can establish a theoretical system of translation and communication based on the “translation” theory of translation science and the “transmission” art of communication science, which can be used to guide translation practice, it will help the translation to break through “translation” , Improve the scientific and creative translation of the current books, guide the translation of the classic, and promote translation studies to a new level.
