From September 13 to September 14, 2003, 11 nations including the United States, Australia, Japan, and France held a joint maritime interdiction military exercise codenamed “Pacific Protector” near the central coast of Queensland in northern Australia. The exercise is based on the first military exercise conducted by PSI in May this year by 11 countries such as the United States in Krakow, Poland. The exercise is expected to be held 10 times. The “initiative” aims to stop the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction by cooperating in the interception and search of aircraft, ships and land vehicles suspected of transporting weapons of mass destruction.
