Objective: To explore the protective effect of estrogen on focal cerebral ischemia in rats and its mechanism. Methods: 60 female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 3 groups (20 rats in each group), Group A: sham operation group, Group B: ovariectomized group (OVX), Group C: (1 7β-E2) treatment group. 60 rats were used to establish focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion model. The lethality, infarct volume ratio and cerebral cortical regional cerebral blood flow (r CBF) were statistically analyzed in three groups. Results: Compared with group A and group C, group B had higher cumulative lethality and increased infarct volume (P <0.05). There was no significant difference between the above test indexes in group A and group C (P> 0.05). There was no significant difference of r CBF in the cerebral cortex between the three groups after ischemia (P> 0.05). Conclusion: Estrogen has a protective effect on cerebral ischemia in rats, Flow perfusion has nothing to do with changes.
