Who’s behind the success of the World Cup? Tens of thousands of women and men will be helping to ensure that the world’s biggest football tournament works. Many of them will be in the limelight, but many more will be busy behind the scenes guaranteeing a successful World Cup in Germany. They will be taking the slogan of this World Cup—A time to make friends—very much to heart, implementing it cordially to make the 2006 World Cup championship a unique experience for everyone.
谁是世界杯成功的后盾?数万的男男女女在奔忙,以保证这一盛大足球赛事的顺利进行。他们中的许多人将成为被注目的中心,而更多的人则在幕后忙碌,以确保德国世界杯成功。此次世界杯的口号“交朋结友的时刻”已深入他们心中,诚实地落实于行动上,让每个人在2006世界杯拥有一段别样的经历。

The English fans were the fastest. As soon as the date for the first match in Group B, Paraguay versus England, was announced, Marita Stohr’s phone in Frankfurt started ringing. The 52-year-old had to refuse the request, however, as she cannot accommodate a whole group in her three rooms, even if she wanted.
