Typical American households spend half of their income on housing and automobiles, while typical Egyptian households buy food for half their income. Typically, 30% of Chinese household income is used to save, almost the highest in the world. This is the conclusion drawn by Credit Suisse Emerging Consumer Surveys to thousands of residents in the United States and eight developing countries. The eight developing countries include China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Russia, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. As can be seen from the data, consumers in different countries have very different attitudes toward automobile, food and telephone charges.
