《白雨斋词话》卷五,一○三有一段有见解的论述: 炼字琢句,原属词中末技。然择言贵雅,亦不可不慎。古人词有竟体高妙,而一句小疵,致令通篇减色者。如柳者卿“对潇潇暮雨洒江天”一章,情景兼到,骨韵俱高。而有“想佳人妆楼长望”之句。“佳人妆楼”四字,连用俗极,亦不检点之过。又如王君玉《望江南》云:“碧瓦烟昏沉柳岸,红绡香润入梅天。”可谓精于造句。(“红绡”七字为荆公所爱)。而接语云:“飘洒 “Baiyu Zhai words” Volume five, one hundred and thirty have a insightful exposition: refining word Zhuo sentence, the original word in the last technique.
