2002年12月中旬,百事可乐公司一纸传真发给足协及国内多家媒体,表示将终止与甲 A 联赛推广商国际管理集团(IMG)合作,不再赞助2003年的甲 A 联赛。而这已经是近年来中国足坛第3起赞助商退出的事件了。缘起:IMG 多次违约按照1999年百事公司和甲级联赛推广商国际管理集团签订的甲 A 联赛赞助合同,甲 A 联赛冠名权从1999年到2003年的5年时间里都属于百事公司。根据和IMG 的合同,中国足协将在2003年得到1400万美元的甲 A 联赛赞助款。在过去4年时间里,曾经和百事可乐一起取得了联赛副冠名权的爱立信和 TOM.COM
