上世纪之交中国社会国家、政治、社会生活危机日益影响到中国文化体系,处于传统文化边缘的绘画日益受到具有现代意识知识分子的攻击和非难。陈师曾一方面努力廓清传统文人画的真相,另一方面积极投身创作实践,挖掘民族文化内涵,实事求是地肯定文人画价值。其间陈师曾创作了《北京风俗画》册页,发扬和光大传统文人画,首次将民众的生活题材引入国画,为中国画的创作开辟了新的空间,显出一位艺术家应有的文化立场和学术自觉。
At the turn of the century, the crisis of state, politics and society in Chinese society has increasingly affected the Chinese cultural system. The paintings on the brink of traditional culture are increasingly being attacked and blamed by intellectuals with modern consciousness. On the one hand, Chen Shizhen tried hard to clarify the truth of the traditional literati painting, on the other hand, he actively participated in the creative practice, tap the connotation of national culture, and affirmed the literal value of the literati in a realistic way. In the meantime, Mr. Chen created the album Beijing Folk Painting, carried forward the tradition of literati painting and introduced the people’s life themes into Chinese painting for the first time, opening up a new space for the creation of Chinese painting and showing the artist’s cultural position and academic awareness.
