纵观百年来的西方电影,笔者发现西方电影中塑造中国人的形象有一套“定型化”的描述。并且在不同的历史时期,中国人形象呈现出不同的风貌,或者凶狠狡诈,或者谦卑恭顺,其形象总是在肯定和否定的两极之间摇摆。其实,西方电影中的中国人形象无论是邪恶还是善良,正面或是反面,在文化的功能上都表现为西方文化的“他者”。本文将探讨西方电影中中国人形象生成背后的原因及形象在传播过程中产生的广泛影响。
Throughout the past hundred years of Western films, I found that there is a set of “stereotyped” descriptions of the images of Chinese people in Western films. And in different historical periods, the Chinese people showed different styles, either ferocious or humble, and the image always swings between positive and negative poles. In fact, the image of Chinese people in Western movies is evil or good, positive or negative, and all show their cultural function as the “other” of Western culture. This article will explore the reasons behind the image generation of Chinese people in Western movies and their extensive influence in the dissemination process.
