The selection of microfilm density directly affects the quality of microfilm. Properly selected density value, in a sense, the key to the success or failure of the entire microfilm work, it determines the technical methods of the various aspects of microfilm work and future testing standards. The material of our archives is rather complicated, some of them are of poor quality, and after many years of custody, a series of damage phenomena such as yellowing of paper, fading of writing, and proliferation have brought about many difficulties for file microfilming. It is very difficult to film these complex originals as microfilms that are both sharp and controllable over a range of densities. Therefore, the choice of the density value becomes even more important for the file microfilming. China’s relevant departments to develop the standard archiving micrographic density of 0.8-1.5. However, how to correctly apply this standard is worth studying. Some comrades think that as long as the film density control
