2004年6月29日,在第八届中国青年科技奖颁奖大会上,全国98名获奖者中的4名引领科技前沿、成果突出的获奖代表作了专题报告,其中一份农业方面的报告引起了与会专家的强烈反响。此份报告的作者,就是广西壮族自治区种子公司副总经理徐世宏。先进是一种积极人生信念的确立和相应的生活方式的选择徐世宏出生在贺州的一个小山村,农村留给他的记忆是贫穷和辛劳。生活的烙印使徐世宏从小就下定决心：一定要努力学习,考进农业大学,用知识让父老乡亲过上好日子。因此他的高考志愿全部填上农业院校。1988年7月,徐世宏以优异的成绩和一名共产党员的身份从当时的广西农学院毕业,分配到广西农业技术推广总站工作。
