“As long as it can be done” On January 24, 1951, recommended by Qian Sanqiang, the Chinese Academy of Sciences decided to appoint me as the deputy director of the instrument museum preparatory committee to be responsible for preparatory work for the instrument museum. What is in front of me is such a status quo. On the ruins left by old China, there is no basis for full use. China has almost no application of optics! “No,” this is the most frustrating reality. In the face of “no,” our general reaction is mostly disappointment, retreat and escape. However, for some people, “no” is often the most exciting reality. Because “no”, you may get a new space for development. Because “no”, you may be engaged in a Meaningful new business. I think I’m talking about the word “no”. If China “has”, I will not be inflexible. In any case, I will never retreat because of “no”. Since then, I have started my lifelong pursuit of the development of applied optics in the motherland.
