空心莲子草(Alternanthera philoxeroides Griseb.)属苋科莲子草属,是多年生宿根植物,俗称水花生。该草原产于巴西,分布于南美洲热带及亚热带地区。1940年抗日战争期间由日本人引种于上海郊县作为饲料,以后逸为野生。50年代初期,江、浙、沪等省市又逐步推广人工放养作为猪羊饲料。60～70年代,随着养猪事业的发展,进一步被引入我国南方各省。80年代以来,该草自然蔓生面积迅速扩大,发生区域除沟塘河湖水域外,并蔓生于旱地、果园、苗圃和宅旁,对种植业、水产业、航运交通业等带来不利影响。为对空心莲子草在江苏的分布情况和经济评价作进一步了解,作者等于1986年对江苏全省(包括上海市)选择有代表性的县进行实地考查,并对全省78个县、市进行函调。现将有关资料整理如下。 Alternanthera philoxeroides Griseb.
