The successful development and application of the live attenuated polio vaccine (OPV) has played an inestimable role in eradicating poliomyelitis worldwide. However, the vaccine-related paralysis caused by OPV (VAPP), despite its extremely low incidence, can not be ignored. After the polio-free target was proposed, especially the last case of poliovirus poliovirus reported in China in 1994, the incidence of VAPP cases has been increasingly recognized by the whole society (including children’s parents and immunization planners) attention. There is no doubt that the vaccine-related cases will persist for a considerable period of time before the global cessation of live attenuated vaccines.
