章古台地处科尔沁沙地东南部,年平均气温5.7—7.1℃,降水量486mm,蒸发量1881—1887mm。土壤为生草风沙土和流动风沙土。这里从1955年开始,在沙地上引种栽培樟子松,二十多年来,植株一般表现稳定生长。但由于土壤根栖层的含水率趋于下降,特别是干旱年,水份不足对樟子松林的生长有显著作用。因此,研究干旱对樟子松人工林生长的影响,探索水分因子与生长量之间的数量关系,对改善经营措施和提高林分生产力有很大意义。
