If you use a gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist on the pituitary can cause a strong stimulus, but repeated use will be inhibited. This is because they resist the degradation of the pituitary enzymes: they therefore block the pituitary gonadotropic receptors and render the pituitary gland non-responsive after the initial hyper-physiological stimulation. There are many different such agonistic analogues used to inhibit gonadal hormone production and to treat hormone-sensitive cancers.
