舰载机是以水面舰为基地的执行某种战术、战役或战略任务的固定翼飞机和旋翼机的通称,在现代海战中发挥着极为重要的作用。作为飞机,其与陆基飞机有相同的一面,但又有特殊的一面。这主要表现在由于使用环境的差异导致的在结构、材料、性能及作业维护保养上所出现的显著变化。就此意义而言,虽然舰载机是由陆基飞机演变而来,但早已不是陆基飞机所能代替的。运行环境不同陆基飞机运行在固定的陆地基地上,而舰载机运行在颠簸的水面舰的飞行甲板上。这一动一静就使舰载机发生了有别于陆基飞机的变化,其结构必须有较大加强。因此,舰载机的结构重量比陆基飞机重,在同样载荷下比陆基飞机的航程
Carrier-based aircraft is a generic term for surface-based fixed-wing aircraft and rotorcraft that perform certain tactical, operational or strategic missions and play an extremely important role in modern naval battles.
