As a type of intellectuals, “artist ” is a kind of social identity, but also a cultural identity. Therefore, artists need to shoulder social responsibility and bear the responsibility of culture - regardless of whether artists recognize this Or not, this is the answer given by history. After the 20th century, the creators of Chinese painting should have a clearer understanding of this. In this issue, we invite Mr. Chen Shuxiang to review the artistic accomplishments and cultural contributions of the elder Qi Baishi in the 20th century and talk about the enlightenment given to the development of Chinese painting by the contemporary figures. At the end of this column, we also invited the guest host to arrange a discussion on the modern themes of Chinese painting in order to substantiate the above understanding issues. In fact, we can also see from the works of Chinese painters introduced in this issue that they share the common goal of exploring differently.
