British QinetiQ company for the British Ministry of Defense has developed a maritime infrared search and tracking (IRST) presenter. The system uses two staring infrared cameras as well as a light fixture that splits the field of view for panoramic tracking of the horizon. Compared with the existing scanning infrared search and tracking system, the infrared search and tracking system with the gaze detector has higher sensitivity and tracking speed. Demonstrator is equipped with commercial products has been the 640 × 512 MW detector, but it can also accept 1024 × 768 detector in the future. The demo system is equipped with a special switchable filter to select the best operating band for the major environmental conditions and incorporates a beam redirector to facilitate non-uniformity correction and image stabilization. The demonstration system has enabled real-time data processing using field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) and PowerPC hardware for probing and tracking. This article describes a staring sea infrared search and tracking system and introduces some of its output images.
