[Objective] To investigate the correlation between the Arg16 / Gly polymorphism of β2-adrenergic receptor (β2-AR) and Kazakh overweight and obesity. [Methods] A total of 557 Kazak herders in northern Xinjiang were enrolled. There were 232 males and 325 females, aged 30-70 years old. According to the body mass index (BMI) <24kg / m2, 24-27.9kg / m2, The selected population was divided into three groups: normal, overweight and obesity group. The polymorphism of Arg16 / Gly of β2-AR gene in the selected population was analyzed by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP), and the genotypes and alleles were observed in normal, overweight and obese 3 Distribution frequency in the group and its relationship with overweight and obesity. [Results] The genotype frequencies of Arg16 / Arg, Arg16 / Gly and Gly16 / Gly in normal, overweight and obese groups were 0.28, 0.45, 0.27, 0.36, 0.46, 0.18 and 0.33, 0.43 and 0.24 respectively. Arg16, Gly16 allele frequencies were 0.51,0.49,0.59,0.41 and 0.55,0.45 three genotypes and two alleles in the normal, overweight and obese three groups the distribution frequency was not statistically significant ( P> 0.05). No statistical difference was found in the distribution frequency of the three genotypes among the normal, overweight and obese groups in Kazak men and women. [Conclusion] There is no correlation between Arg16 / Gly polymorphism of β2-AR gene and Kazakh overweight and obesity in Kazak population.
