Since the outbreak of the Gulf crisis, the U.S. military has not only deployed a large number of troops from the mainland and Western Europe to gather the Gulf. President Bush also ordered the reservists to enlist in service. This is the first large-scale enlistment of reserve personnel by the U.S. military in actual combat since the reserve system was implemented by the United States in the early 1970s and therefore has drawn the general attention of all parties. The U.S. military and the U.S. have affirmed this. Nunn, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, believes that this action "enables military policy makers to increase the use of reserve forces in emergencies to be dealt with in the future
