陈廷焯的《白雨斋词话》不同于其他词学著作的地方在于它的词学发展演变史观,没有哪一部词话这样致力于构建一部词学发展演变史。浙西词派的朱彝尊、汪森与常州词派的张惠言、周济在提出词学理论的同时,当然也有宋词的前后相继的词史观念,尤其周济的宋四家词说,但是他们少有词家之间前启后承的演变意识,还只能看作一般性的词史观;开始有了发展演变意识的是江顺诒的《词学集成》与谢章铤
Chen Tingzhuo’s “Bai Yu Zhai” is different from other works of Ci-poetry in that it has a history of the development of Ci-poetry.
