In this interview, the famous Indian American novelist Bratty Mukherjee discusses immigration literature and the new theme “Miss New India.” As one of the founders of immigrant literature, Mukherjee elaborates on the concept, meaning and development of immigrant literature, its significance as a literature in the age of globalization and its difference from postcolonial literature. Mukherjee’s personal life as a migrant has influenced her literary creation, for which she has been involved in interviews. “Miss New India” is the end of Mukherjee’s “New Trilogy” with the second lasted for seven years and has long been a hope for critics and readers. The relationship between this novel and immigrant literature is reflected in the interviews with the development of the other two novels, the author’s creative thinking and writing skills, and the concept of life that Mukherjee hopes to express through the novel.
