The world’s major military Powers are improving their air defenses as a temporary measure against the threat of tactical ballistic missiles and cruise missiles. At the same time, they are developing a new generation of outstanding Theater Missile Defense (TMD) systems. To achieve this goal, a series of interrelated research and development work is under way. This includes early warning, rapid capture of targets, precise tracking and rapid interception of missiles. Each section of the system requires strong capabilities that determine the performance of a new generation of theater missile defense systems that relies on rapid reaction rates and reliable combat management / command, control, communications, computer and intelligence systems (BM / C ~ 4I).
