The idea of a microriter was originally proposed by a U.S. citizen named Bates in 1939. He tried to insert a transparent hollow tube into the soil to observe the root system of plants. Later, people made and improved many times to form modern micro-vials. Principles of Micro-Roots Roots are not only distributed in different depths in different numbers of layers, but also have different thicknesses and lengths in the same depth. With a transparent hollow tube inserted vertically into the soil of the root distribution area, the root system will form a contact surface with the tube wall. The roots on the contact surface are refracted by the multi-level reflector inside the tube, The amount of root system and the root system are reflected, and finally the root distribution image is formed.
