英语中存在着大量诸如give sb.a help,have a look at sth.
In English there are a large number of verb phrases such as give sb.a help and have a look at sth. Syntactically, these structures and the individual verb phrases, such as tohelp sb., To look sth, etc. belong to different structures , But semantically, they have a lot of similarities. This article states that the former kind of structure is the extended structure of the verb (SVC) and the latter is the simple structure (SC) of the verb. This article draws on Professor Allerton’s theory, trying to explain this verb expansion phenomenon from the perspective of thematic theory.
