Before the advent of the 17th century academics, architects and craftsmen in Europe learned mainly from workshops, a tradition rooted in the Middle Ages. Baroque culture, a period of transition from the traditional medieval guilds to the modern construction industry, spawned a thriving arts and craftsmanship, including painting, sculpture, architecture, music and theater. Bernini and Polomini are among the best in their class. Among them, Polomini’s (hand) process is purely structured, which is reflected in his skilled use of geometry. He is a master who specializes in the use of stones and draws a good figure. The article presents Polomini’s architecture of perfect proportions and rhythms, as well as reversing the flow of time and space.
