书法之所以为艺术,归纳起来,大概有两点:1、汉字结构丰富且变化莫测,其演变过程中,结构特征迥然不同的书体迭出,这使得书法在视觉上有产生无穷无尽的变化可能。2、线的艺术。毛笔笔头由柔软兽毫做成,锋锥着墨于纸,推拉提按,俯仰躺卧,逆来顺往,聚点铺面,转换自如,呈态万象,由此便造成笔画(线条)的无穷的变化。变幻莫测的线之运动及由此生发出的丰富内在节奏,成为书法赖以生存的基础。书法似乎纯粹形式化了的线条,实是由仿生形象、形态的演化迁变而来的,其内涵意蕴亦积淀融贮于中,于是成为“有意味的形式”。其特定的意义生成系统、范式、观念、参与方式,对它的感受因之大异于一般的感情、感性、感受,而成为特定的“审美感觉”。
