中长跑是典型的周期性耐力项目,其突出特征是高速度持续跑的专项速度耐力。只有具备较快的速度能力素质和良好的速度耐力,运动员才可能在比赛中战胜对手,取得好成绩。当今的中长跑比赛运动员往往都是到最后几十米或几米才分伯仲,速度慢必然输掉。可见速度的快慢是决定运动员最后冲刺,取得好成绩的最重要一环。因此,在运动员的多年训练中,确立以“速度训练为中心”的指导思想,是当今中长跑运动训练的主体和有效方法。
