In the history of ideas in Europe and the world, Johann Gottfried Herder (1744-1803) undoubtedly is a very important figure. He changed the way of thinking of the human mind since the Enlightenment and started the romantic movement that took root in Germany and swept the globe for centuries. He is both a critic of the Enlightenment and a successor to enlightenment, and more importantly, he is the true father of romanticism.
