芒果,素有“热带水果王”之称。它原产于印度和东南亚地区,印度人栽培芒果已有四千多年的历史了,那里人们将芒果奉为佛果和圣果,甚至说佛祖释加牟尼是在芒果树下打坐,专心思考四谛、十二因缘之理,最后达到彻悟人生世事而成佛的。所以现在印度各地寺院的建筑物上均有芒果树的枝叶和果实图案。公元1600年,印度莫卧儿王朝专门建造了一个种植10万株芒果树的果园,以敬佛祖。在印度芒果还是爱情的象征,并流传着许多故事,因而印度人民又昵称芒果为“爱情之果”,将其作为新婚佳宴中的必备果品。
Mango, known as “tropical fruit king,” said. It is native to India and Southeast Asia. The Indians have been cultivating mangoes for more than 4000 years, where mangoes are regarded as the fruit and the holy fruit. Even Buddha Sakyamuni meditates under the mango tree to concentrate Thinking four truths, twelve reasons of reason, and finally reached the enlightenment of the world and Buddha. So now the buildings in temples all over India have mango tree foliage and fruit patterns. In 1600 AD, the Mughal dynasty in India built a special orchard planting 100,000 mango trees to honor Buddha. In India, mango is still a symbol of love and has many stories circulating. Therefore, the Indian people nicknamed mango “the fruit of love” as an essential fruit in the wedding ceremony.
