In this paper, the model experiment is used to study the propagation of acoustic waves in tight carbonate rock formations. Using alloy mounds to simulate tight carbonate formations, a reduced model well was made at a 10: 1 ratio. The model is cylindrical with a height of 0.4 m and a diameter of 0.3 m. The center is initially at 0.02 m. A full wave train of sound waves is received when the well is filled with water. The fundamental characteristics of the refracted, refracted and Stolley waves observed in the full-wave series are consistent with the theoretical analysis. However, the observed amplitude ratios of the refracted waves and their geometric decay are not consistent with the theoretical analysis. We think the main reason for these differences is that the theoretical analysis does not consider the directivity of the sound source.
