“笔墨结构”是指笔墨形态及其笔墨的干湿浓淡、点线面、黑白灰有机的排列与组合。“通过衔接、对比、转换与渗透及笔墨的复加、冲、破、合成,形成一定的韵律和节奏,构成完美的意象造型。”1它是中国画意象造型体系的一个基础,体现了画家自身的审美情趣。梅兰竹菊作为花鸟画的基础训练,古代士大夫画家在长期的笔墨实践中,总结了一套完整的笔墨结构,形成了高度的程式。当今画坛,人心浮躁,急于成名,疏于基础,重新梳理“四君子”的笔墨结构,显得尤其重要。
