于品海的经历颇为传奇:在香港念完中学后去日本,后去美国读电视新闻,学费不足才辗转至加拿大读政治经济专业,时年19岁;30岁时以零成本收购菲律宾上市公司——Acesite(Phils),马尼拉希尔顿酒店的拥有者;33 岁收购香港上市公司南海发展(后改名中国数码),同年从金庸手中收购《明报》,成为《明报》第二代业主;39 岁经营传讯电视(CTN),一度建起自己的传媒王国,但最终输光1亿美元;41岁通过旗下的中国数码收购Savoy Concepts有限公司,更名南海控股,卷土重来……如此不凡经历,让于品海获得了“神奇小子”的称号。
