This paper gives a preliminary analysis of the facilitating effect of classroom teacher talk.It first pinpoints the pedagogic aim of teacher talk,which makes it different from other language input like foreigner talk.Then the paper emphasizes one of the important effects of teacher talk:consciousness raising.Comprehensive input is another valuable trait of teacher talk.Then the function of correction and feedback is discussed.After the analysis,it draws a conclusion that teacher talk has a facilitating effect on language learners.
