由于缺乏精神向度和主体的不在场导致了《檀香刑》中人物和情节失去分寸,华丽文辞代替了创作主体的人文立场及应有的道德审视。莫言的“作为老百姓的写作”沦为主体缺失的民间写作,将主体融入了一个对性和暴力的赏玩以及对语言、想象的自我迷恋的世界中,从而使文本呈现出主题混乱和呓语状态,最终演绎为一场语言和想象狂欢的游戏。在这背后我们看到的只是作者思想的贫弱和毫无精神内核的虚弱的心灵世界。
