保定历史悠久,以其地理位置而得“京畿重地”之名,自清康熙起便成为直隶省会。近代以来,李鸿章、袁世凯先后在保定设立多座新式学堂,在军事与技术等方面培养了一大批人才。辛亥革命爆发后,北方地区革命活动亦风起云涌以为呼应。保定地区此时虽被中央政府所严密控制,但具有新思想的青年学生与军官们依然以自己的方式进行了不懈的反抗与斗争。
Baoding has a long history, and its geographical location is derived from the name of “Gyeonggi Empire Land”, since the Qing Emperor Kangxi became the capital of Chihli. In modern times, Li Hongzhang and Yuan Shikai successively established a number of new-style schools in Baoding and trained a large number of talents in military affairs and technology. After the outbreak of the Revolution of 1911, revolutionary activities in the northern region were also erupting. Although Baoding was closely controlled by the Central Government at this time, young students and officers with new ideas still persevered in their own ways.
