Sun Yat-sen’s concept of women’s political participation, with a small amount of remarks, is rich in connotation and has become an indispensable part of his democratic rights. He believes that the power of political participation is the “human rights” of women who are “natural” women. However, the acquisition of equal participation in political power requires the determination of “public opinion,” and therefore can not pin its hopes on the power of a few male political elites. The realization of the political power must be possible after the women have the necessary cultural and political qualifications for participating in the political affairs. Sun Yat-sen’s concept of women’s political participation is not without reference to our active participation in gender equality in politics today. However, because of its lack of restraint from the background of the times and traditional gender values, the limitation is also more obvious. So it must be absorbed critically.
