用中双9号早花植株作母本、湘油15号早花植株作父本杂交,经长沙—昆明穿梭育种,早熟性状定向选择,育成在长沙地区10月20日左右播种、4月20日左右成熟的湘油420,成熟期比一般品种在迟播近1个月的情况下,早熟15~20 d。该材料芥酸含量为0,硫苷含量17.39μmol/g,含油量40.08%,在45万株/hm~2左右密度下,株高155 cm左右,适合油—稻—稻三熟制直播栽培。
