As in many other languages, English is constantly evolving and changing. Foreigners learn modern Chinese, Chinese newspapers, Chinese broadcasts, Chinese television and the Chinese language are naturally inexhaustible resources. When we Chinese learn modern English, we should also make every effort to keep in touch with English newspapers, radio, television and English websites. Needless to say, the regionalization and globalization of politics, economy, trade, environment, culture and even military affairs have prompted a change in English at an unprecedented rate. Leonard Bloomfield, the founder of modern linguistics, clearly pointed out in his Theory of Language (1933) that all languages are developmental rather than static. In addition to the English news media such as newspapers and TV stations, English, especially the English vocabulary, can hardly find a more timely, detailed and comprehensive recording method. The purpose of this article is to briefly analyze the basic characteristics of news English vocabulary to help news English fans more accurately obtain sufficient and effective information.
