Objective To investigate the effect of two methods of direct injection, ie non-withdrawal and withdrawal of blood, on the residual amount of radioactive imaging agent in a syringe when a radioactive imaging agent is injected before single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT). Methods One hundred and forty-four patients were injected with 99mTc-labeled compound and divided into two groups (57 cases) and 57 cases (57 cases). Measurement of both withdrawn blood and non-withdrawn blood two cases, the radioactive residues within the syringe. Results When the blood was not drawn back, radioactivity residual radioactivity (3.39 ± 0.57) mCi in the syringe was significantly higher than that in the drawn blood group (1.49 ± 0.29) mCi, with significant difference between the two groups (P = 0.000 , Both sides). Conclusion When using direct injection to inject SPECT imaging agent, withdrawing blood can significantly reduce the residual radioactivity of the radioactive imaging agent in the syringe.
