Objective To observe the changes of short-term prognosis of obese patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) after surgery. Methods A total of 209 patients with NSCLC undergoing thoracic surgery were divided into obesity group (n = 77) and control group (n = 132) according to whether they were obese before surgery. The changes of prognosis in the two groups were observed. Results The frequency of cardiopulmonary and cerebral complication, the number of intensive care unit intensive care unit (ICU) stay in hospital and the total number of hospital stay in obesity group were significantly more than those in control group, and the indexes of pulmonary function were significantly lower than those in control group (P <0.05 or P <0.01). Conclusion Obese patients with NSCLC undergoing thoracic surgery have more postoperative cardiopulmonary and pulmonary complications, with poor lung function indexes and poor prognosis in the near future.
