The ruins left by Germany after World War II as a testimony to history have far-reaching implications for German culture and the German spiritual world. Literary, literary, philosophical, and artistic people in different fields have variously rethought the social disasters and traumas caused by World War II. “Ruin Literature” is one of the cultural phenomena in which the history of modern German culture has made a significant contribution . As a German genre of new performance (also known as the new beast), Anselm Kiefer constantly examines the history of World War II in a visual manner. The ruins of both symbols and carriers are the most representative of his works One of the images. Whether it is the ruins of buildings or the ruins of ancient civilizations, they have surpassed visual reproduction in Kiefer’s works and have risen into an aesthetic feature with tragic beauty. At the same time, the formal language of Kiefer’s art is deeply influenced by the culture of the ruins, and it is fully reflected in the performance technique and material selection of his works.
