The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the 2005 Nobel Prize in Chemistry to Yves Chauvin, 74, of the French Petroleum Institute; Richard R. Schrock, 63, of the California Institute of Technology ) And Robert H. Grubbs, 60, of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, for their significant advances in metathesis methods in organic synthesis. Their work not only deeply affects the research of organic synthesis theory, but also plays an extremely important role in the development of new drugs, new synthetic materials and bioactive substances.
