自我国60年代第一本《艺术概论》教材编写成册以来,我国的《艺术概论》教材的编写先后经历了若干几个不同的发展阶段。而在这四十余年的时间里,《艺术概论》教材的编写要求和目的也都发生了很大的改变。最初的教材仅是“作为高等艺术院校一、二年级学生的一本入门的教科书,它的目的应该是使得艺术院校的学生一入学就能树立起基本正确的艺术观点”。到如今,随着艺术学研究的兴起,《艺术概论》教材的建设也更加完善,在吸收艺术学研究的诸多新成果的基础之上,针对学生的实际和课时规定,概要地阐释艺术的基本原理和基础知识,从而做到深入浅出、通俗易懂。
