The zinc sulfide film, which is made by resistance evaporation, is usually the best material to transmit infrared light and therefore has a wide range of uses in industry. In the preparation process, when the appropriate conditions are available, the zinc sulfide film can be made into a hard film, and adhesion to the substrate is very good. Zinc sulfide films prepared by ion-heating method and films prepared by resistance evaporation method with zinc sulfide as matrix and CeF_3 and ZrF_2 added to increase the transmittance have good performance.
