HANNOVER MESSE – Get new technology first!
U.S. President Barack Obama called it “the world’s leading show for industrial technology.” German Chancellor Angela Merkel says it is “the biggest industrial show of all.” Not only is HANNOVER MESSE the world’s leading trade show for industrial technology but also a trend showcase that attracts political and business leaders from all over the world.
HANNOVER MESSE 2018 (23–27 April; Hannover, Germany) presents the complete range of industrial technologies, from automation and robotics, software and IT, and power transmission and fluid technology to integrated energy systems, subcontracting and lightweight design, and research and development. In addition, CeMAT, the world’s leading tradeshow for intralogistics and supply chain management, runs parallel to HANNOVER MESSE. Collectively the events host roughly 7,500 exhibiting companies from 70 countries and 265,000 visitors from 80 countries. Mexico is Partner Country in 2018.
Global meeting point for business and politics
Digitalization is a hot topic not only for industry executives, but also for government leaders and public servants at all levels. HANNOVER MESSE is the established meeting point for all of these influencers. “Business leaders and politicians visit the show to keep up with the latest technology trends and challenges in the manufacturing and energy branches,” explained Marc Siemering, Senior Vice President of HANNOVER MESSE.“In addition to the thousands of exhibits, there are numerous business summits, country showcases and receptions where industry peers network with each other. For example, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and her counterpart from the Partner Country host 3,000 prominent international guests at the official opening ceremony.”
Inspiration for new concepts and business models
HANNOVER MESSE inspires for the future. Not only with new products and technologies, but also with new ideas, concepts and processes. In one week, HANNOVER MESSE features more than 80 conferences and forums with over 1,700 talks and panels. Topics range from cyber security and digital transformation to energy to resource efficiency to Industrie 4.0 and startups. “Today it is more important than ever to give visitors the chance to learn about new topics, trends and best practices,” said Siemering.
Global business-motor
Ultimately, HANNOVER MESSE is about doing business. In 2017, exhibitors generated roughly 5.6 million business leads. The majority of visitors comes from the manufacturing and energy industries. One third comes from outside of Germany, 95 percent are trade professionals and 63 percent attend in a decision-making or advisory capacity. Furthermore, one half of the visitors comes to the show with concrete investment plans and an average budget of 550,000 euros. “Our studies confirm that companies and organizations of all sizes – from startups and small workshops to mediumsized companies and technical universities to global concerns and federal governments – conduct extensive business at HANNOVER MESSE,” said Siemering. “Exhibitors fill their order books and visitors find the right products, solutions and partners.”
Integrated Industry – Connect & Collaborate
Virtual power plants bundle electricity from numerous small generators and feed it into the grid in precise amounts. Augmented reality, virtual reality and machine learning connect workers with the factory so that they can work more efficiently. Data collection and analysis in the cloud facilitates internet-based services that blur traditional industry boundaries. No wonder HANNOVER MESSE’s lead theme for 2018 is?Integrated Industry – Connect & Collaborate“. “Without connectivity, new models for business, employee empowerment and collaboration would not be possible,” said Siemering.“‘Connect & Collaborate’ spotlights how technologies such as artificial intelligence, cobots, digital twin, predictive maintenance, and smart supply affect the way companies design new factories and plants.”
Young Tech Enterprises: New impulses for industry
More and more new companies are developing products and solutions for industry. A quick look at Young Tech Enterprises, HANNOVER MESSE’s startup initiative, confirms this: from 2016 to 2017, the number of individual exhibiting startups grew 25 percent. In 2018, the program branches out with two satellite areas, one in the energy sector (Hall 27) and one in the intralogistics sector (Hall 19/20). Young Tech Enterprises’central hub in Hall 17 consists of an exhibition, a forum, pitches, matchmaking events, and workshops. “Startups at Young Tech Enterprises present concepts, innovations and products for many different branches of industry,” said Siemering. “Plus, worldrenowned institutions such as the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft–Venture and the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT) showcase a selection of their spin-off companies and research projects.”
Partner Country Mexico
Mexico is Partner Country at HANNOVER MESSE 2018. And the time is ripe: Mexico was Latin America’s second largest economy in 2016, generating a gross national product of 1,043 billion US dollars. “As Partner Country, Mexico has a fantastic opportunity to present itself to the global community,” said Siemering. “In Hannover, Mexico will focus on five topics: industrial production, energy and environmental technologies, workforce development, startups, and foreign investment. The ultimate goal is to expand free trade with the European Union and intensify bilateral investments.” The central Partner Country Mexico exhibit is located in Hall 27.
